Terms & Conditions - Membership
Article 1
1. The Association comprises of an unlimited number of members
2. Membership applications will be accepted from civic minded individuals of eighteen years or older, with a good moral standing and also from companies who wish to join
Article 2
There will be the following categories of membership:
1st. Associate – An individual who has applied to join the association and agrees to work towards the fulfillment of the established aims and who is obliged to pay a subscription
2nd. Benefactor – An individual or company who makes contributions to the institution on any occasion, whether in goods or services or in money and who, through the deliberation of the Board, receives a favourable vote at the General Assembly
3rd. Honorary – An individual or company that, through services or donations are recognised as having made a particularly relevant contribution to the aims of the institution and who, through the deliberation of the Board, receive a favourable vote at the General Assembly
Article 3
Member’s names will be inscribed in the membership register which the association is obliged to keep
Article 4
a) Members will comply with the Articles, rules and decisions that have been approved by the General Assembly, General Council and the Board
b) Members will carry out the duty for which they have been elected or appointed with zeal
c) Members will pay their subscriptions on time
d) Members will attend the meetings of the General Assembly
Article 5
Members will enjoy the following rights:
a) Participate in meetings of the General Assembly, discuss and vote on matters that have been submitted for appreciation and approval
b) Elect and be elected to the associations governing bodies
c) Convene extraordinary General Assemblies as established in the Articles and regulations
d) Propose individuals or companies meeting the conditions of membership, for admittance to the association
e) Employees of the institution who are also members, will enjoy all their civil rights and the obliga tions inherent to membership
Article 6
a) Associate members can only exercise the aforementioned rights if their subscriptions are paid up to date
b) Associate members who have been members for less than 6 (six) months will not have the rights referred to in paragraphs b) and c) of the previous article, however they can participate in meetings of the General Assembly but without the right to vote
c) Members who have been removed by judicial process, investigation or syndication from their managements posts in the association or other charitable institutions, or who are responsible for irregularities committed in the exercise of their duty are not eligible for the governing bodies
Article 12
a) Membership is not transferrable either by acts of inheritance or by succession
b) Members can give their power of attorney to others to act on their behalf
Article 13
a) Anyone who willfully prejudices the institution or brings it into disrepute will lose their right of membership
b) The removal of members can only be brought about once the accused has had an opportunity to refute the accusation, including a proper hearing
Power of attorney must be notarised and can apply to a single issue or be permanent as stipulated by the power of attorney
